There are so many devices these days that need a memory card including games consoles, mobile phones, digital cameras, mobile devices etc. No matter how often we use these memory cards, when it comes to buying them, we still tend to make many mistakes. Here are the most common mistakes that people make when purchasing memory cards.

- Many people will purchase memory cards that are too small for what they intend to use it for. If you are only going to be using your memory card for photographs then a 1Gb memory card will probably be sufficient but this would be much too small for you to use if you want to store a lot of video files. Before you go out and buy a memory card, it is important that you think about what your actual needs are.

- A lot of people purchase cheap memory cards but this isn’t always such a great idea. We all want to save money these days but sometimes you really do get what you pay for. Many people who bought cheap memory cards ended up losing all their precious data so it can be quite risky to buy these. You could end up losing all your photos of a special event or all your favourite eBooks. You can reduce the risk of losing all your important data if you pay for the more expensive memory cards.

- Many people waste money by purchasing memory cards that are too big for their needs. This might seem fairly harmless but the problem is that people who have these memory cards with high storage capability will tend to use them for long-term storage. This can be a big mistake because memory cards should always be emptied regularly onto a more secure storage solution. The chances are that if you leave data on a memory card long enough it will eventually become corrupt even if it is one of the most expensive memory cards you can find.

You will get much more from your memory cards if you can avoid making these mistakes.

Memory cards are used in many products today. iphone accessories can give you a great example of this as well. Another one that is used nowadays is the ipad accessories.

iPad

Okay, I’m not a gadget freak, but I’ve been waiting for ages to get my hands on a tablet PC to do some digital drawing on a touchscreen. However, I’m more of a Mac fan than a Windows devotee. So, when the rumors of a new Apple tablet device began circulating in Cupertino late in 2009, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one. By Q1 2010, the iPad was unveiled. And before I’ve even begun budgeting for one, I hear that a firm named FreebieJeebies is offering them free of charge. Can this be legit?

Considering Apple’s product mix, the iPad isn’t all that pricey. However, for many of us, the price is hard to justify. Very few of us really need one. Without a doubt, that will change over time as mission critical apps are developed for niche industries. But for now, it seems very tempting to get one for free.

So along comes a new company called FreebieJeebies, and they want to give me a free iPad 32gb. How can this be possible? Is it just too good to be legit? It sure sounds that way. True, you can find online video clips of ordinary folks opening their brand new FreebieJeebiesiPad. But are these real “winners”, or are they just contrived testimonials?

Among my friends and family I have quite a reputation for being a skeptic. More than once I’ve been accused of raining on someone’s parade. Just for fun I read the entire Freebiejeebies user agreement to try and understand how they do business. At its core, this is a marketing company whose primary revenue stream derives from third party referrals. I also believe the company models user attrition rates to be sure they stay in the black while making good on their giveaways.

Here’s the deal: to earn yourself a free Apple iPad (or other Apple product) you first register with a unique and verifiable set of personal contact info. Next, you refer FreebieJeebies to your friends, and last, you sign up for a free trial of an affiliated company’s product or service.Next, you refer FreebieJeebies to your friends, and last, you sign up for a free trial of an affiliated company’s product or service. This last piece – third party marketing spend – is exactly how FreebieJeebies generates the required revenues to support its free apple ipad giveaways. I would not be surprised if a certain percentage of registrants get started, do the free trial for FreebieJeebies, and drop off before completing the program. This is a calculated risk for the company, and the Law Of Large Numbers enables FreebieJeebies to consistently earn a profit while shipping free product.

So there you go: a viable business model that gives away free iPads! The miracles of web based marketing!

The fact that a laptop battery begins to show its age very quickly is one of the annoying things about owning a laptop. It is a good idea to try to extend a laptop’s life for as long as possible as they can work out very expensive to replace. Here is just a few ways that you can extend the life of your battery.

- It is important that you don’t leave your battery charged for too long without using it. It needs to be regularly exercised just the same way humans do. Make sure that at least once a week you use the battery.

- Try and avoid using the CD-Rom when using battery power as this is very draining. Instead load from external hard drives. You should also try to avoid watching a DVD when you are using the battery for the same reason.

- If you are using battery power then it is a good idea to have as few applications open at the same time as possible. The life of your battery will shorten because of these applications as they can drain the power.

- When you are not using your Laptop the best idea is to put it into hibernate rather than standby which uses more power.

- Make sure you defrag your computer on a regular basis. The purpose of this is that the easier the hard drive can find data the more energy will be saved.

- Don’t overdo it with devices in your USB ports these are using energy from the battery.

- A hot environment will cause your computer to have to work that bit harder. For this reason it makes a lot of sense try and always use your computer in cool surroundings.

- It is a good idea to dim the screen while you are using the battery as this is another way to save energy.

So there you have just a few tips for how to extend the life of your Laptop battery.
